In the past year, the Working Party has welcomed 11 new members, adding to our diverse community of 150 individuals representing 33 countries.
Meetings and Teleconferences
Business meeting at 2023 ISBT Congress; the agenda included:
- Imputability subgroup functions and membership
- Education session on Big Data presented by ISBT President Mike Busch
- Update on joint effort between ISBT and AABB to produce pulmonary adverse reactions report form
- Introduction and demonstration of the Kahoot educational platform

- Produced 3 Newsletters.
- Organizational meeting for Imputability subgroup
- Organizational meeting for Tools and Resources subgroup
- Published 3 Kahoots
- Drafting storyboard for Overview of Haemovigilance video in conjunction with IHN, AABB
- Members have been involved in various haemovigilance publications; a few key examples provided below:
Future projects that have been under discussion in 2023-2024:
- Completion of the Haemovigilance tools video
- Imputability project-organization meeting in fall 2023
- Exploration of under transfusion as an adverse transfusion event (with paediatric subgroup of Clinical Transfusion WP)
- Exploration of AI in HV
- Validation Respiratory complications (TRALI)
- Production of 3+ WP Newsletters
- Continuing collaborative projects with IHN – webinars, surveys (on traceability and donor cardiac and neurovascular complications) being planned
