Transfusion-transmitted Disease and its Prevention: Sheila O’Brien (Canada) International Forum: Nancy M. Dunbar.
Miquel Lozano holds the position of Editor‐in‐Chief (EiC).
There has been a change in the expanded Editorial Board. For health reasons, Dana Devine has withdrawn as an editor.
Maria Davie continues as technical editor, to the full satisfaction of the EiC, the Editorial Board and the authors. Claire Dowbekin has continued as Journal Publishing Manager at Wiley.
The Production Editor at Wiley changed in June 2023, and we have been advised that it will change again in April 2024. This means that, in less than one year, Vox Sanguinis will have had three different Production Editors. We have conveyed to Wiley our concern about the frequency of changes in the Production Editorship and they have responded that every effort has been made to ensure a smooth transition
Meetings and Teleconferences
Finally, we were able to hold a face‐to‐face Editorial Board meeting on 21st June 2023, immediately after the ISBT Regional meeting in Gothenburg.
Activities during the period
Vox Sanguinis metrics refer to the volume of a given year. In 2023, volume number 118, Vox Sanguinis published 12 issues with a total of approximately 1,150 pages, featuring 152 articles (increase of 14.2 over 2022).
In 2023, we received 343 manuscripts, an increase of 21.6% compared with 2022, resulting in an acceptance rate of 44.1% (6% decrease over 2022).
The reduction in the time between submission and online publication has continued, which last year was attributed to the increase in the number of pages published. In 2023, with the same number of pages published as in 2022, the publication time has been reduced by 8.5% (median 107 days).
In 2023, 382,720 articles were downloaded from the Vox Sanguinis website, representing an increase of 12.1% over 2022.
Unfortunately, despite the increase in the number of manuscripts submitted, published and downloaded, the 2-year citation trend decreased significantly from 729 to 416 (a decrease of 43%)
Other activities that took place during the period include the updating of the Author Guidelines and the discussions at the Editorial Board and the ISBT Standing Committee meetings about moving publication of Vox Sanguinis to online only. This move has finally been approved by the ISBT Board of Directors and will take place as of the 2024 April issue for ISBT members and from 1st January 2025 for subscribers.
