ISBT Milan 2025
The scientific programme for the Milan congress was developed by Jason Acker (Scientific Secretary), with assistance from Jill Storry and Cynthia So-Osman (ISBT Vice-Presidents), ISBT Central Office (Jenny White, Eszter Herczenik and Caroline Hockhauser), valuable input of the local organising committee from the Italian Society of Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology (SIMTI) and excellent administrative support from MCI. The same ISBT team collaborated with ANZSBT to develop a joint Transfusion stream for the Perth congress as described below.

35th Regional Congress of the ISBT in Milan, Italy, May 31 - June 4, 2025
The Milan congress was held in collaboration with SIMTI, and with SIMTI President, Francesco Fiorin, and ISBT President, Pierre Tiberghien as Congress co-Presidents. The congress was very well attended with 2838 delegates from 104 different countries.
The programme included a local Day, an educational Academy Day, plenary lectures, invited and abstract oral presentations and interactive workshop sessions. There were 49 scientific sessions, 246 speakers, 7 interactive workshops, 656 posters, 9 industry sponsored symposia, networking events, a large exhibition with 77 exhibiting companies, a fun run and a very successful congress party.
The congress was also the venue for ISBT Society and Working Party business meetings.




36th Regional Congress - Blood2025-ISBT, Perth, Australia, 25-29 October 2025
The second ISBT regional congress of 2025 Blood2025-ISBT, was in an innovative new format for ISBT, as a joint venture with Blood2025 the meeting of the Australia and New Zealand societies for Transfusion, Haematology and Haemostasis.
BLOOD2025-ISBT included a comprehensive transfusion programme designed by ISBT and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion (ANZSBT), and haematology and haemostasis streams provided by the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ) and the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ) respectively. All sessions were open to all delegates including additional plenary sessions on cross-cutting topics, giving everyone a unique opportunity to network across disciplines and to gain new insights on how these fields intersect to improve patient outcomes.
The congress was co-hosted by Presidents of the four societies, Anastazia Keegan (ANZSBT), Hui-Peng Lee (HSANZ), Dominic Pepperell (THANZ) and Pierre Tiberghien (ISBT).
The Perth congress attracted 1886 attendees, including 363 international delegates from 52 different countries outside of Australia and New Zealand, with 269 of these registering the ANZSBT-ISBT stream as their primary stream of interest.
