The XX Congress of the Mexican Association of Transfusion Medicine AC (AMMTAC), held in the beautiful city of Chihuahua, Mexico from the 25th to the 28th of September 2023.
The Congress was an exceptional event that marked a milestone in the history of this important organization. With the participation of 1041 delegates from various states in the Mexican Republic and Latin America. This congress stood out for its magnitude and significance in the field of transfusion medicine.
The opening ceremony
One of the most notable aspects was the diversity of the participants (physicians, chemists, nurses, among others), which reflected the importance and relevance of transfusion medicine in the region. The presence of delegates from Latin America added an international component to this event, further enriching the discussions and collaboration in the transfusion medicine.
The academic program of the congress was outstanding and greatly benefited from the participation of internationally renowned experts. AMMTAC managed to attract professors from the United States, representing an elite group from AABB (Association of Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies), as well as distinguished professors from Brazil, Colombia, Spain, and England, among others.

This international speakers enriched the discussions and academic presentations, providing attendees with a global perspective on the advances and challenges in the field of transfusion medicine and apheresis. International collaboration and cooperation among experts from different regions strengthened AMMTAC's mission to promote excellence in transfusion medicine and improve patient care.
The Congress addressed a wide range of topics, from technological advances in blood collection and processing, to ethical and regulatory issues related to blood transfusion. It also explored current and emerging topics such as Patient Blood Management and Quality Management, among others.
Another highlight of the congress was the opportunity to establish connections with colleagues and experts from around the world, fostering collaboration and networking in the field of transfusion medicine. Congressmen were able to participate in debates, workshops and presentations that promoted the valuable exchange of information and best practices.
It is important to note that AMMTAC received academic support from the ISBT (International Society of Blood Transfusion), adding a stamp of quality and global recognition to the event. This endorsement underscores the relevance and quality of the discussions and presentations held at the congress and demonstrates AMMTAC's commitment to uphold the highest standards of transfusion medicine.

- Applications from countries in the Low, Lower Middle or Upper Middle World Bank Index categories are eligible
- Organisations from High Income Countries can only request financial support if it is intended to support the attendance of a participant from an eligible country, or if the HIC is hosting an educational activity in an eligible host country.
Each organization can only submit one application for financial support in a given year and can request to use the ISBT logo as many times as required.
