ISBT Milan 2025
We are looking forward to co-hosting our June congress in the stylish city of Milan with the Italian Society of Blood Transfusion (SIMTI). As well all the amazing science, interactive learning and networking at the congress, you can experience everything Milan has to offer, including culture, architecture, cuisine, warm weather, parks, nightlife and much more!
The congress takes place in the centre of Milan, at the Allianz MiCo, one of largest and most modern conference centre in Europe - a real Milan landmark with its unique design and comet-shaped roof.

Delegates enjoying scientific sessions
The congress begins on Saturday May 31 with the SIMTI ‘’Local Day’’, a packed scientific programme delivered in English and covering topics of special interest within Italy. Members of the ISBT working parties will be getting together for their business meetings on Saturday and Sunday
Sunday is the ISBT Academy Day with educational sessions for anyone learning for the first time, updating knowledge or looking for an accessible way to get into topic areas outside their own speciality. Also on Sunday morning, the new ISBT Basic Transfusion Biology working party will be holding their inaugural meeting, open to those with a special interest in the biological concepts that underpin transfusion science and medicine.
The main scientific programme runs from Monday to Wednesday, with six parallel streams of sessions covering the complete transfusion chain from the donor to the patient. Each of these parallel sessions has a theme and begins with an invited speaker followed by short oral presentations selected from high scoring abstract submissions. Each day also has one plenary session with three invited speakers going into depth on: the frequent donor, cord blood in transfusion medicine, and the diabetic donor.
Social Events
The opening ceremony will be held on Sunday June 1 and includes welcome speeches, award presentations and leading to the exhibition welcome reception and opening of the trade exhibition will take place. This is a great opportunity to explore the exhibition hall, visit the exhibition booths and discover the latest developments in transfusion technology while meeting up with friends and colleagues and enjoying local culinary treats!
The early risers can start their Tuesday at the ISBT fun run (or walk for those not up for running!) around the park adjoining the congress centre beautiful summer morning. Why not take part as an individual and meet new people, or get a team together for a fun, bonding experience. Collect an ISBT fun-run T shirt as evidence that you took part! The legendary congress party happens on Tuesday evening - a chance for everyone to celebrate with old and new friends, dance, talk and enjoy the night!

Get involved
Selected sessions will be interactive, so you can use your Milan congress app to answer polls and post questions to the speakers or moderators. These interactive sessions include those in a dedicated workshop stream and ‘’Fireside Chats’’, a chance to join in, ask questions and exchange views with fellow professionals.
The poster session will be held on Tuesday, June 3 is a great opportunity to mingle, discover new research and chat with like-minded colleagues and friends.
Throughout the congress events are organised by young professionals such as the Young Professional breakfast on Monday June 2.
