Young Professionals Breakfast Session at the Cape Town Congress
It was an exciting time for young professionals who attended the 34th Regional Congress of the ISBT in Cape Town from November 18-21, 2023. The congress provided the young transfusion medicine community with yet another opportunity to meet in person, network, share their research experience and advance their knowledge with other participants from all around the world and this time around with more colleagues participating from the African region.
As part of the activities to encourage young professionals’ engagement in the field, the ISBT Central office and the ISBT Young Professional Council organized the Young Professional breakfast session. During this event young professionals who registered for the workshop were assigned to tables based on their areas of interest and expert mentors were placed at each table.
The breakfast session was a success with the participation of more than fifty young professionals and ten expert mentors . The feedback from both sides was great as it was a great platform for young professionals to network and exchange ideas amongst each other and get to meet with experts in the field of blood transfusion.
The ISBT YPC acknowledges the interest and contribution of the participating YPs and the mentors who volunteered to take part in the session and looks forward to further expanding such opportunities in the future based on the positive feedback received during this successful congress.
