ISBT is pleased to announce that the website for the International Coalition for Safe Plasma Proteins (ICSPP) has been reactivated. The website was dormant temporarily pending updates on ICSPP activities and the establishment of new organizational members. The website provides useful information on the mission and current actions of the ICSPP.

ICSPP aims to enhance the quality and availability of treatments with a range of safe and effective plasma protein products for patients in resource constrained environments through a stepwise approach. Its activities, undertaken consistent with the WHO workplan for the “Achilles Project” on maximizing utilization of domestic plasma, include in-country pilot projects, workshops, training events, exploratory studies and educational publications.
Along with ISBT, which serves as a member and administrative host, ICSPP presently comprises Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations (FIODS), World Apheresis Association (WAA) and affiliate members International Plasma and Fractionation Association (IPFA) and Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA). ICSPP cooperates with the World Health Organization (WHO) under a Collaboration Agreement. The ISBT Working Party for Global Blood Safety chairs the Steering Committee of the ICSPP.
